“Remember a day before today? A day when you were young…”

On this day, 68 years ago, Roger Keith Barrett was born in Cambridge. A founding member of Pink Floyd, he was with the band very briefly but managed to leave his unique, indelible mark on their music and on the pop/rock world. Not only was he a talented painter, musician and songwriter, but his lyrics are some of the most peculiar and beautiful of the 20th century. Poetic, complex, fairy-taleish, they reflected Syd’s incredibly creative and uncommon personality. Though in his later years he disappeared from the spotlight, he remains one of the music world’s great geniuses, a pioneer, living one step ahead in the future whilst others tried to keep up with him in the past. Thank you for everything, Syd. I love you so much <3
